Climate change mitigation and adaptation

Climate change is the main threat to a community’s well-being. Poor governance of natural resources, unsustainable land use practices such as overgrazing, uncontrolled de-vegetation, environmental pollution, destruction of water catchment areas, inefficient use of natural resources and encroachment of critical ecosystems are on the rise. These have affected environmental integrity and the ability to provide goods and services to the dependent communities. GDI Kenya works with the local community conservation groups, Community Forest Associations (CFAs), youths and women groups and build their capacity to undertake sustainable management of natural resources. GDI Kenya also collaborates with other likeminded CSOs, County and national government natural resource management departments in promoting environmental conservation and protection initiatives that are geared towards climate change mitigation and adaptation.
