GDI Kenya has programs to offer continuous and systematic provision of information and learning experiences to the target communities for their effective participation in democratic life. This is especially to women in communities that were disadvantaged to opportunities to formal education and subjected to early marriages. To ensure that they are able to build basic skills they need to help them play a role in providing for their families and active participating in community development as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya (CoK) 2010. These basic skills include reading, writing, and problem-solving to be productive workers, family members, and citizens. GDI will work with the Ministry of education through providing the basic skills to identified group of people in the communities. This facilitates the production of an informed society that actively participates in governance affairs on the basis of enhanced knowledge, understanding and ownership. The overall objective is to impart information and create awareness of civic morals and values, rights and responsibilities and on how these are exercised and accessed by the target communities within society including disadvantaged and marginalized groups.
